DANCE is one of GOD's greatest gift to mankind. DANCE is an art form. All art forms originated from the CREATOR of the WORLD and its creatures.
Have you ever watched a dog tail wag rythmically with a musical instrument nearby?
Have you ever seen a baby or a toddler start to jiggle when they hear dance music?
I was born a dancer. Many of us are. Some people don't even realize they have the GIFT of dance. Some CHRISTIANS refuse to admit it. It as if it is a curse that deep inside them is an intrinsic desire to strip naked like DAVID did to dance in the worship of our CREATOR. I refuse to subdue my ability to please my LORD through dance worship. I dance to my GOD. No not naked. In dance clothes, I dance to express to HIM my gratitude for making every nerve ending, every blood vessel, every skin pigment, every sensory perceptive organ of my body synchronize with MUSIC.
When the gift of the HUMAN BODY and all its intricate molecular structure synchronizes with the the GIFT of MUSIC, COMPOSERS, LYRICISTS, INSTRUMENTALISTS and SINGERS, a form of artistic worship of the LORD can be orchestrated.
It was dance that put in a platter the head of the prophet JOHN.
DANCE can be a BLESSING. DANCE can be a CURSE.
When we dance as a form of RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP of our BODIES, we worship our MAKER. When we use DANCE as a PRELUDE to an INTIMATE CELEBRATION of the GIFT of ONENESS with our HELPMEET, we worship our CREATOR. When we dance to the GIFTS of interpersonal relationships and cultural diversity in FOLK DANCES, BALLROOM DANCES, WEDDINGS, FAMILY REUNIONS,& TOWN FIESTAS, we glorify GOD with the CREATIVE CHOREOGRAPHIES and MUSIC beating in symphony with a multitude of beating human hearts.
PUBLIC DANCING, to be a form of WORSHIP needs to be a PURIFIED ART FORM, HOLY, UNDEFILED. When the CHOREOGRAPHY of HUMAN BODIES sychronize with MUSIC to LIFT the HUMAN SOUL, DANCE is a BLESSING.
When DANCERS BODIES GIRATE to music to seduce the human senses and flesh to covet that which do not belong to them, DANCE becomes a CURSE.
When the dancers hearts vow to GLORIFY GOD in every movement and giration of every part of their bodies, sans vanity, sans pride, sans malice, DANCE can be an EXHILIRATING act of WORSHIP!
When we DANCE to seduce anyone else other than our spouses, when we dance even unintentionally stumbling our brothers and sisters in CHRIST, DANCE can be a CURSE.
KING DAVID, a man after GOD's own HEART used DANCE to communicate to HIS CREATOR. That GOD allowed DANCE to be used as a FORM of WORSHIP in the OLD TESTAMENT is PROOF that DANCING is not a SIN.

The Dance
"Those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness." Prov. 14:22
Ron Kraybill, a respected Christian mediator, has noted that "effective confrontation is like a graceful dance from supportiveness to assertiveness and back again." This dance may feel awkward at first for those who are just learning it, but perseverance pays off. With God's help you can learn to speak the truth in love by saying only what will build others up, by listening responsibly to what others say, and by using principles of wisdom.
Taken from The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict by Ken Sande, Updated Edition (Grand Rapids, Baker Books, 2003) p. 183.
Food for Thought
Have you given up aspects of biblical peacemaking because you kept stepping on someone's toes?
Even if you have never watched Dancing with the Stars, at some point in your life, you've probably seen a couple on the dance floor, and it captured your attention. And even if you're not the biggest fan of dancing, you had to admit to a grace and beauty before your eyes; a fluid motion that took weeks, months, and possibly even years to achieve. The perseverance paid off.
As we learn the steps of confrontation (a necessary step in peacemaking), it's wise to remember that it takes time. It may take days or weeks or months or even years to learn those rhythms of speaking the truth and listening intently and proceeding wisely. It may feel awkward at first. Repeat that again -- it may feel awkward at first. But if we let God take the lead (that's always His role) and commit ourselves to following His lead, something of grace and beauty can emerge -- it's called the dance of peacemaking. It has the power to capture the attention of a watching world. Perseverance will always pay off. | |
