It would be nice if David can join us so Anthony and Cris would not feel so outnumbered. I am going with my 70 year old lady cousin, my 60 year old lady partner, a 37 year old employee of "In His Steps" (Christ centered addiction recovery home), myself, a 53 year old woman aspiring film maker. Anthony, my son, is coming with CHRIS. They are both 15.
Chris is under the care of his 70 year old gradma. His mom is a drug addict. Chris was mauled by our rottie-dobbie mix about 3 years ago while i was doing an onsite catering (Subway & lumpia) at the San Vicente golf course. He was in a wheelchair and cast for more than a month. 35 stitches throughout his whole body. Her grandma was being prodded by everyone to sue us to death. She could have. She is a sister in CHRIST. She used to go to Calvary Chapel Ramona, our church. She did not. Thank you, Lord!
I have fantasized adopting CHRIS. His mom has threatened to kill him. The CPS has given him instruction never to be alone with his mom. Grandma, mom and Chris live in the same house.
Two years ago, when both Anthony and Chris were 13, I brought Chris and Anthony with me to the NAASF (North American Association of Subway Franchisees) fall forum in Atlanta, Georgia. We went to the JONESBORO BAPTIST CHURCH. I was fascinated to learn that Mr. TRUETT CATHY, founder and CEO of CHICK-FIL-A, taught Sunday School at this church for 50 years. This was the church where his Sunday School teacher, THEO ABBY, led the then 13-year old Mr. Truett Cathy to the LORD, in words, in time and in deeds. I was thrilled to find out, a week before our trip that it was also the church of the BLACKABY father and son authors. EXPERIENCING GOD, by HENRY BLACKABY was given to me by Riz. Three years after she did. it became the first CHRISTIAN book I ever read. It created in me a hunger to experience GOD more, after realizing how i have already been experiencing GOD throughout my life. Of course, Riz, was quick to remind me,
"Mom, it is good that you read all these Christian books, but have you read the bible yet?"
That was four years ago, 2004. I had not. I have been going to BEREAN BIBLE CHURCH, formerly BIBLE MISSIONARY FELLOWSHIP, of Ramona, California for over 12 years by then. I must confess, I was a half-baked one way Wednesday-Sunday- church goingCHRISTIAN. My Bible stayed at our family's permanent church bench Bible pocket. Sometimes i would mistakenly take it with me. It stayed in the car until the next church day. I am thankful to the LORD that all the fundamental teachings that I got from the church, which i now consider my ELEMENTARY SCHOOL church, that taught me the BASICS of KNOWING our CREATOR and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, did not stay in the bench bible pockets nor in the car as well.
In January of 2005, I started reading my worn out KJV bible, through the FABBA one-year Bible reading calendar guide.
To date, it has become my daily food indeed to devour GOD's WORD, all versions, with gusto and JOY...
It is fascinating how GOD weave people's life for HIS PURPOSE and GLORY.
You, both, DAVID and ODESSA has been one of my girls' GODLY MEN and WOMEN gift from our ULTIMATE PROVIDER. You may not realize it but there are ONE-LINERS of either exhortation and rebuke, told with unconditional love, that you have given them...and SHONE its LIGHT on ME as well.
ANTHONY and CHRIS are a DRY PARCHED LAND...as was MR. TRUETT CATHY, in that Sunday School classroom. They need JESUS' light from some GODLY men outside their homes.
Remember, JESUS was 13 when he left home to start HIS ministry. If that is so, then maybe our FATHER exempted HIS SON from the TURBULENCE of PUBERTY.
I really do not understand. But GOD made me a WOMAN, and i love being it. I just sometimes need help in becoming the HELPMEET PROVERBS 31 wife to my husband, and a TIMOTHY/TITUS MOM to my son. Often, my love for both of them necessitates a man outside of both of them to intervene, in JESUS' name, AMEN.
